Bachy Soletanche provides the design and construction solutions for all large-scale industrial buildings, including warehouses, data centres, factories and supermarkets. We are also equipped to carry out the excavation and construction of industrial basements.
The construction of industrial buildings is a major financial investment, which is often compounded by commodity price fluctuations, issues with product availability and pressures to minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
Industrial Sector
The construction of industrial buildings is a major financial investment, which is often compounded by commodity price fluctuations, issues with product availability and pressures to minimise greenhouse gas emissions. Bachy Soletanche works with its clients to overcome these obstacles.
Through a collaborative and iterative design and planning process, we support our clients with developing efficient solutions that meet their requirements, whether that’s integrating carbon-saving initiatives to achieve environmental targets or stretching project budgets through lean construction methods.
Our work is supported by a robust supply chain comprising long-standing and reliable partners, as well as the group strength of our Bachy Soletanche UK sister companies, who can create cost and time efficiency on multi-disciplinary schemes.
Bachy Soletanche has a comprehensive package of solutions at its disposal to suit the nuances of major industrial infrastructure projects, including those to improve productivity and minimise emissions.
Some of the techniques we have applied to previous projects include retaining walls (secant and contiguous walls), piling (LDA and CFA) and rotary displacement piling methods such as our innovative Screwsol technique.
Case Studies
Project Goldfinger, Rugby
As part of Britvic’s strategic growth plan, the company redeveloped their facilities to include a new distribution warehouse built alongside the existing bottling plant. Due to the natural topography of the site and the planned warehouse location, there was a requirement for a substantial retaining wall to hold back neighbouring businesses and highways. Our team installed the contiguous piled retaining wall using a combination of CFA and rotary bored piling techniques.
North London Heat & Power, EcoPark South Phase 2
EcoPark South is the second phase of the North London Waste Authority’s (NWLA) scheme to create a sustainable waste management hub at Edmonton EcoPark, with expections to prevent 215,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions annually. Bachy Soletanche’s scope of works on this project comprised the ground engineering design and construction for two key structures. Works included CFA piling, Trenchmix® Soil Mixing, Slurry Cut-Off Wall and Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs).
Shurgard Self Storage Facility, Woolwich
The self-storage site was contaminated with asbestos and heavy metals from years of industrial use. As the ground was made up of peat overlying river terrace gravels and Thanet sands, our design team opted to use Screwsol, a continuous helical displacement solution. Challenges also included the new Crossrail tunnels located beneath the site, limiting the depth, and hence potential capacity, of piles installed above these tunnels.
