Bachy Soletanche’s continued commitment to driving excellence in health and safety has been recognised by the British Standards Institute (BSI).
Earlier this year, the International Safety Certification Standard ISO45001:2018 was introduced to replace the existing OHAS 18001:2007. This new standard, although similar in many respects to the previous one, has several additional requirements, particularly aimed towards management, ensuring companies have a demonstrable and robust health and safety management system, that provides a healthy and safe working environment for all.
The audit involved detailed examination of the company’s management systems and strategy to deliver a robust health and safety programme. Directors, Managers, and site-based employees were interviewed to ensure all levels of the workforce were engaged and understood the company’s targets and objectives. Finally, the auditing team visited some key work sites to see how health and safety was being delivered during the operational phase.
Commenting on the achievements, Andrew Carpenter, Group SHEQ Director said:
“Achieving this Standard, which was only launched earlier this year, is testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees. It demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering excellence in the health, safety and welfare of our workforce and helps to ensure everyone goes home safely.”
